Genia Evelina designs a made-to-order womenswear label based in Montreal, Canada. Offering a range of quality garments in romantic silhouettes and whimsical colour palettes, for a soft leisurely life.

A perk of being an independent designer is working directly with you to offer a custom fit on any style. It is my strong belief that fashion is for everybody. So offering made-to-measure is a step towards being more inclusive and sustainable.

how Genia Evelina aims to be sustainable + ethical

I source deadstock fabrics from Montreal wholesalers, meaning end-of-roll and surplus fabrics. This offers customers unique garments in limited colours and prints. When sourcing new materials, I look for certified organic fabrics with natural fibers from Quebec and Ontario wholesalers.

To minimize fabric waste and limit overstock inventory, garments are made-to-order or produced in small batches for retailers.

Developing a size inclusive range, as well as offering custom fit options, is an important core value of the label. Quality and reliability are important functions to being sustainable.

I love the art of making clothes, but it’s the connection to real people that is most fulfilling. I love being able to create someone’s ‘favourite’ garment, or a piece that will hold a special memory. Dressing up has the power to tap into whatever version of ourselves we want or need in that moment.

I’ve always loved ‘make believe’ and fantasy. I started my education in Set and Costume Design for the Theatre, which taught me to be flexible and curious. I later studied in Fashion Design and was able to further develop my artistic voice.

After interning and working for several Canadian fashion labels, I launched my namesake in 2018.
